Resurface Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 12, 2026
Resurface is an iPhone app made by one person, Alec Greene, an independent developer in Texas, USA. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Alec Greene. Questions go to help@resurfacehq.app.
The short version
- What you put in Resurface stays on your iPhone. We never see your tasks.
- The app has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking, and it doesn't send anything to us.
- We don't sell or share personal information.
- The only times information reaches us are when you email us, use the contact form on our website, or ask to join a beta. Those messages are used to reply to you, and we'll delete them if you ask.
- Our website counts visits without cookies. We see totals, not individuals.
1. What the app keeps, and where
Your tasks, subtasks, routines, what you've finished, and your settings are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone. Resurface's widgets read the same storage on the same phone. Reminders and other notifications are scheduled by your iPhone itself, not sent from a server.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Resurface doesn't run servers for the app and has no account for you to sign in to, so there is nothing about you for us to look up.
Beta versions installed through Apple's TestFlight may send crash reports and any feedback you choose to submit to us through Apple.
2. Features that use your iPhone's own tools
Some features need your permission first. You can turn any permission off later in your iPhone's Settings.
- Voice capture (microphone and speech recognition). When you speak a task, your iPhone turns your words into text on the device. Resurface requires on-device recognition, so your voice is not sent to Apple or to us. The recording is not saved; only the text you keep is.
- Camera, scanning and photos. When you scan a page or choose a photo or screenshot, your iPhone reads the text on the device. The image is not saved by Resurface and is not sent anywhere; only the tasks you keep are stored.
- Calendar. If you connect your calendar, Resurface reads your events on your iPhone to find quiet hours and open time. Your events are not copied out of your calendar or sent anywhere. If you tap the button that adds a reminder about your free month ending, Resurface adds that one event to your calendar.
- Export. "Export my tasks" makes a file (a spreadsheet, a plain list or a picture) on your iPhone. Where it goes next is your choice, through the iPhone's share options.
- Contact Us and Leave a review. These open your Mail app or the App Store. What you send from there is covered in section 5.
3. Subscriptions and payments
Apple handles every payment, the free month and your subscription. We never see your card or payment details. Apple shares sales reports with developers that don't identify you to us. Apple's own privacy policy covers what Apple collects when you buy something.
4. Backups
If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, Apple's backup can include Resurface's storage, the same as any other app. Apple and your own settings control that, not us.
5. When you contact us
If you email help@resurfacehq.app, use Contact Us in the app, or use the contact form on our website, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use it only to reply to you and to help with what you asked.
- Messages are kept in our email inbox. Mail to help@resurfacehq.app is forwarded by Cloudflare and stored by Google (Gmail), who handle it on our behalf.
- We keep messages only as long as we need them to help you, and we'll delete them whenever you ask.
- If you ask us to tell you when Resurface launches, we'll send you one email when it does and then delete your message.
- If you ask to test an early version, we'll give your email address to Apple so it can send you a TestFlight invitation. Apple handles TestFlight under its own privacy policy. We'll remove you from testing and delete your message whenever you ask.
- You don't need to tell us anything about your health to get help.
6. Our website (resurfacehq.app)
The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic connection details (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The website has no advertising and no tracking cookies.
- Contact form. Your message is passed straight to our email inbox (section 5). The website itself doesn't store it. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, which checks your browser without asking you to solve a puzzle.
- Visitor statistics. The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are viewed, which site a visitor came from, their country, browser and device type, and how quickly pages load. It uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device and doesn't follow you to other websites. Cloudflare discards your IP address instead of storing it with these statistics. We see totals, not individuals.
- Colour choice. If you pick a colour option on the site, your browser remembers it on your own device. It isn't sent to us.
7. Sharing and selling
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. Because the app never sends us anything, there is nothing from the app to share.
The only information we hold is the messages people send us (section 5). Our email and website providers handle those for us, and if you join a beta, Apple receives your email address to send the invitation. We would disclose a message only if the law required it.
8. Health information
Resurface is designed with ADHD in mind, but it never asks whether you have ADHD or any other condition. Whatever you write in the app stays on your iPhone, and we don't receive it, infer anything from it or build a profile about you.
9. Children
Resurface is not directed at children under 13, and the app collects nothing from anyone. If a child emails us, we'll delete the message once we've answered it or as soon as we learn it came from a child. Apple manages ages and parental approval for App Store accounts.
Some state laws, such as Texas's, require apps to check the age information that Apple holds for your Apple Account. When that applies to you, Resurface asks Apple on your iPhone only whether you are 18 or older. The answer is used only for that check, is never saved or sent anywhere, and changes nothing about how the app works for you.
10. Your choices and rights
- Everything in the app is yours to see, change and delete at any time. To delete all of it, use Settings → Delete All My Data, or delete the app.
- For messages you've sent us, email help@resurfacehq.app to ask what we have, to correct it or to delete it. We'll answer within 45 days. These rights apply wherever you live in the US.
- We'll never treat you differently for asking.
11. Security
Your data in the app is protected by your iPhone's own security, including your passcode and the device's encryption. We keep no copy of it. Our email provider protects the messages you send us. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep as little as possible so there's as little as possible to protect.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects what Resurface collects or how it's used, we'll tell you in the app or on the website before the change takes effect. If a future version of the app ever needs to send information off your iPhone, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
